What is CNC Operations? In short, CNC machining is a method of metal fabrication where the written code controls the machines in the manufacturing process. The code depends on the movement of the cutting head and part, spindle speed, RPMs, etc. CNC machining services use a subtractive manufacturing method.

This means that the material is removed during the manufacturing process, which makes it the opposite of additive manufacturing, such as 3D printing. CNC stands for computer numerical control. The evolution towards the status quo started with NC or numerical control only. The first NC machines were produced in the 40s and 50s. These machines are based on existing vehicles, but there are some changes.

The engines acted according to the information input given to them through the perforated tape. The code was manually punched into data cards. The first steps towards CNC machining were taken in the 50's. Initially, MIT's computers were ready to produce perforated tape according to the inputs. In one example, this reduced the time taken to produce the card for a milling job from 8 hours to 15 minutes.
